Prayers that Produce Results

We must once again see the power of God manifested on earth as in the days of Elijah, Peter, and Moses. This comes when we learn to bring the effect of the heavenly kingdom upon the earth through effective personal prayer.

Prayer is an intelligent communion with God that refines our spirits to manifest His glory. It has three main components:

  • Fellowship with the Father.
  • Commanding nature to produce according to God’s Word.
  • Dealing with Satan and evil systems.

If prayer is always about asking for things or fighting battles, without sweet worship and fellowship, we have not matured in prayer. The power to make demands on nature or deal with the devil flows from the foundation of fellowship.

Avoiding Religious Prayer

If we do not learn to pray, we risk falling into religious prayer — praying just to satisfy conscience, or to say we have prayed, without results. This is why Jesus taught prayer, and why we must seek to produce results. Teaching on prayer serves as a guide, but we learn prayer by actually praying.

Where to Pray – The Principle of the Closet

One of the first principles of effective personal prayer is understanding where to pray — not a physical location, but a spiritual location.

Matthew 6:6 — Jesus said: “When you pray, enter into your closet…” The closet refers to your innermost chamber, your spirit — the secret place where there is a convergence of your spirit with God’s Spirit.

You can pray from the flesh or mind, but effective prayer happens when you pray from your inner being. In the closet:

  • Your spirit takes over the prayer.
  • There is joy and deep communion with God.
  • Distractions of mind and body fade away.
  • Time becomes irrelevant as you flow in the realm of eternity.

If you are still distracted, tired, or yawning, you are likely still in the flesh. Continue until your spirit takes over.

Arriving at the Closet

For most people, prayer begins in the flesh, moves through the mind, and then enters the spirit. Those mature in prayer and constantly living in Christ-consciousness may start in the closet immediately.

  • Do not stop praying until you have arrived in your closet.
  • Persistence is key; at first it may take 30 minutes, an hour, or more. Over time, it will shorten.
  • The more you pray and fellowship with God, the faster you reach the closet.
  • Do not get discouraged by how long it takes — much of that time is God refining you.

Key Signs You’re in the Closet

  • Your spirit is leading, not your mind or body.
  • Words in prayer carry weight and flow naturally.
  • There is deep joy and connection.
  • You forget about time.
  • The prayer touches you — and a prayer that doesn’t move you cannot move God.

Summary: Effective personal prayer requires praying from your closet — your innermost spirit, the place of spiritual convergence with God. Always continue until you reach that place, no matter how long it takes, and let your spirit take over.
